AI Security Posture Management
AI security posture management, or AISPM, is the practice of inventorying an organization's AI assets and evaluating their configuration, permissions and data connections against policy.
Posture Answers a Configuration Question
AISPM borrows its shape from cloud posture management. An inventory is assembled, each item is checked against a policy baseline, and deviations become findings someone has to resolve. Applied to AI, the inventory covers models in use, the applications wrapping them, the agents deployed, the vendors reached and the data each one can touch. The question it answers is how the estate is set up, which is a different question from what the estate did yesterday.
What Falls Inside the Inventory
A posture system records which models an organization runs or calls, whether those calls go to a sanctioned tenant or a personal account, what permissions each integration holds, and which data stores sit within reach. Discovery is the hard part, since most AI use arrives without procurement involvement. AI asset discovery covers the detection side, and Kovrr's AI security posture management capability covers how the inventory stays current.
Configuration State Decays Between Assessments
A posture finding describes the estate at the moment of the scan. Agents are redeployed, permissions are widened for a deadline, a vendor ships a feature that changes what data leaves the tenant, and the recorded posture no longer matches the operating one. Kovrr has written on what posture management covers and where it stops short, which is the question buyers should put to any AISPM vendor.
Posture Needs Interaction Data to Stay Honest
Configuration describes what is permitted. Interaction records describe what happened, including the categories of data that moved and the accounts they moved under. The AI Interaction Data Fabric supplies that second half, correlating signals from several positions so that a posture finding can be tested against observed activity instead of standing on its own.
